Belarus Updates: How Many Thousands Protested on 19 December?

1330 GMT: Youth activists Volha Damaratskaya and Mikhail Matsevich have been sentenced to 10 days of imprisonment.

Police have searched the apartments of Vladimir Kobets, the detained head of Andrei Sannikov’s presidential campaign team, and of Mikita Krasnou, coordinator of the “Citizen” youth campaign.

1130 GMT: Two members of the Minsk Elections Commission have filed a dissenting opinion over the Presidential results, citing violations in the balloting.

0745 GMT: Activist Vera Lozovskaya has been summoned to the KGB for interrogation.

Police have searched the home and garage of Dmitry Barodka of Andrei Sannikov's presidential campaign.

0735 GMT: Footage has been posted giving an indication of the size of the demonstrations on Election Day, protesting the alleged manipulation of the landslide victory of Alexander Lukashenko:

Olga Neklyaeva, the wife of beaten and detained Presidential candidate Vladimir Neklyaev, says she will file a complaint with the KGB, the state security service.

Neklyaeva says family members and Neklyaev's lawyer have still not been allowed to visit the detainee, who was knocked unconscious by police and seized from his hospital room by security forces.

Raids over Christmas targeted the offices of the remaining independent press offices, including European Radio for Belarus and the TV station Belsat.

All that remained at Belsat TV after the raid was an old typewriter with an orange ribbon and the message "Especially for You".
