Obama Bows Down to Saudi King! The Controversy Continues....

Latest Post: Video Alert - Obama Does Not Bow to Saudi King

This blog entry should be considered a very important update on a very important event. In no way should it be seen as a shameless reminder that we have the video of the Obama bow/non-bow to Abdullah.

obama-abdullahFull credit to my colleague Ali Yenidunya, who broke the story last Thursday of President Obama's bow of greeting to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and wrote ominously, "One thing we do know is that a younger Muslim always shows utmost respect to an older Muslim in public and is expected to kiss the latter’s hands. Hmm, we should think more about it."

Ali did get the Internet, or at least the right-thinking portion of it, moving.

His challenge, "It is time for Conservapedia to take some action," has been met. Our favourite on-line encyclopedia has updated its entry for Barack Hussein Obama, "Never before in the history of the U.S. has a president displayed such shocking deference to a foreign official."

The Weekly Standard initially fretted, "There’s [a] fawning you’ll never, ever know anything about and that is President Obama’s grovel before Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of the House of Saud," but a few days later, everyone was a-flutter about it (perhaps because The Weekly Standard kept banging on). Heck, even Camille Paglia wrote about it, and apparently she was a really important writer once upon a time.

But now the dramatic revelation: none of this happened. A White House aide says, ""It wasn't a bow. [President Obama] grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah."

Looked distinctly bow-like, to me.

Of course, the possibility that Obama bowed, and the obvious fact that the right-o-sphere has gone completely insane, are hardly mutually exclusive.

The white house can't cover this up! The truth is out folks! Our President is a Muslim! Video's do not lie! The president of the United States Bows, and kisses the hand of the King of Saudie? He even kicks his right leg out while doing it! Good God, why he practically kissed him! The Queen of England and the whole world is laughing over this video. Americans want to puke every time they see this video! This Video shows where his true allegiance stands. Enough said...the video says it all.

Sometimes in our lives we have to do what it takes to keep the peace or to make peace. Personally, I think it takes a big man to do what Obama did (if in fact he did bown down). Who knows, maybe it's customary. Let's not be so harse to judge without knowing all the facts. And bottom line is who cares.

I don't care about the bow, either. What worries me is that so many people have gone so totally insane about it. And they vote.

...Bush held the Saudi Princes hand and DID kiss him, what the hell is everyone going crazy about. We need good relations with middle eastern people. It is middle eastern custom to bow to a King, no big deal its like shaking hands. Our country is a joke and getting mad about this proves it, Tracy proves it. And even if he was a Muslim,...that doesnt make him less of a human. I am atheist I respect all religions unlike christians who preach "love everyone" except: muslims, people that are not white, people who are not americans. Wake up!!!!.

BTW, UJ LOL!! on the Will Smith video.

Not only a social and cultural gaffe but I am thinking he was going to maybe give the King a head butt.

...So what if Obama bows to the king and kisses his hand. George Bush used to kiss him all the time. It is tradition and it doesnt mean that Obama is Muslim. Not all Americans want to puke when they see this video. Maybe only the republican, racist jack asses do. All of you need to shut up and just admit Obama is better than the republican old fart that some actually wasted their time voting for. And if you know anything you will know it's not the Saudis who are the terrorist, it is the Afghanis and Iraqis that are. Saudi Arabia are our allies and maybe if everyone stopped being so ignorant and closed minded they wouldnt say the stupid crap they do without the right information.

As a European I see nothing wrong in what President Obama did (if in fact he did bow ?).
It's called protocol and it's good manners to show respect to another Head of State. Maybe some of you should look it up before showing your ignorant, bigoted, racism and making yourselves look uncivilized.
